Hit the Trail
Niine of the 29 preserves Westchester Land Trust owns have trails and are readily accessible to the public, and we invite you to get out for a walk or a horseback ride on any and all of them.
Interested in walking through a meadow and looking for wildflowers? Try the Tom Burke Preserve in Bedford Hills, or the Pine Croft Meadow Preserve in Waccabuc.
If you prefer a big, wooded preserve with long trails, try the Frederick P. Rose Preserve in Cross River, the Guard Hill Preserve in Bedford Village, the Hunter Brook Preserve in Yorktown, or Westchester Wilderness Walk/Zofnass Family Preserve in Pound Ridge.
Looking for a preserve with a truly remote feel? Try the Old Church Lane Preserve, hidden away on a dirt road near Vista, in Lewisboro. And the Danner Preserve is actually in two towns (Yorktown and Putnam Valley) and two counties (Westchester and Putnam).
Click on the links for a description of each preserve, a basic trail map, and directions via Google Earth.
But the most important thing is to get out and hit the trail!
