North Castle Land Trust

Protecting the Kensico Reservoir is a key goal of the North Castle Land Trust.
The North Castle Land Trust was organized in 2005 to promote the protection of our environmentally important open spaces and the resources they harbor. The North Castle Land Trust works with Westchester Land Trust to protect land through conservation easements, to identify land for acquisition, and to foster sound land use planning.

The North Castle Land Trust is made up of community members who are working with local officials and key organizations to bring about thoughtful land conservation. In November 2004, the citizens of North Castle overwhelmingly expressed their support for open space preservation by voting for a $3 million open space bond referendum. North Castle Land Trust and Westchester Land Trust are working with the Town of North Castle to acquire several important tracts.

As a chapter of WLT, NCLT has the benefit of WLT's experience in protecting over 3,500 acres in two dozen communities across Westchester . With our local knowledge and WLT's organizational experience and resources, NCLT will work with the Town and private landowners on conservation easements and the acquisition of properties determined to be environmentally important for preservation.
