New Board Members

June 2008 -- Westchester Land Trust welcomes three new members to its Board of Directors - Jonathan L. Wiesner of Waccabuc, Katherine S. Carsky of Yonkers, and David Swope of Ossining.

Jonathan Wiesner, a businessman with a long interest in environmental issues, is owner and chief executive officer of the Midwest Apparel Group Inc., which specializes in the Sales, Marketing, Warehousing, Distribution, Importing, and Logistical services for a variety of popular brands. 

He is c-chairman of the board of directors of the International Rescue Committee, a renowned humanitarian organization that serves refugees and communities victimized by oppression or violent conflict worldwide.

Katherine S. Carsky represented part of Yonkers on the Westchester County Board of Legislators from 1983 until 2001, and served as chair of its Budget and Appropriations committee.

She was instrumental in helping to create the Bronx River Parkway Reservation Conservancy in 1997. She also spearheaded the county's acquisition of a part of the former Revlon property adjacent to the BRP Reservation in Yonkers, which was then dedicated as Malcolm Wilson Park.

David Swope, of Ossining, is the owner and chairman of Club Fit, in Briarcliff Manor and Jefferson Valley.

A long-time land preservationist, he is on the board of Teatown Lake Reservation (his family donated the reservation's original, 190-acre tract, in 1957). He is also on the board of the Jacob Burns Film Center, in Pleasantville.
