Organized in 1996, the Lewisboro Land Trust promotes the preservation of our open spaces and rural heritage, as well as facilitates the enjoyment of the beautiful parks, preserves and trails of northern Westchester. Lewisboro Land Trust has worked with Westchester Land Trust to protect more than 600 acres.
Lewisboro's Protected Lands
Lewisboro Land Trust and Westchester Land Trust have helped the Town of Lewisboro acquire two big, important tracts in recent years -- Old Field Preserve, on Mead Street, and the Leon Levy Preserve, on Route 35 near Route 123. Lewisboro Land Trust and Westchester Land Trust also have protected scores of acres through the 15 conservation easements we hold in conjunction with private landowners.
2011 Garden Tour
Join us for “Beyond the Garden Gate,” the Lewisboro Land Trust’s second annual garden tour, on Sunday, June 26, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The tour will feature four magnificent gardens in Waccabuc and two in North Salem, displaying a variety of designs and settings, from farm to formal, including a rose garden, orchards, a vineyard, pergolas and courtyards.
Tickets are $40 per person, rain or shine. Lunch can also be purchased for an additional $10.
Tickets can be ordered here.
Lewisboro Land Trust is a chapter of Westchester Land Trust. Proceeds will go to fund a stipend for a college intern who will do land stewardship work on Lewisboro preserves, under the direction of WLT staff.
Lewisboro Land Trust Day
Our sincere thanks to all of those who participated!
Walking Wild Lewisboro
"Walking Wild Lewisboro" is a complete guide to Lewisboro's trail system. The guide is available for $5 at Lewisboro Garden Center in Vista, Gossett Brothers Nursery, the Lewisboro Town House, Lewisboro Parks and Recreation office in Goldens Bridge, Nature's Temptations in Cross River, Houlihan-Lawrence in Katonah, the South Salem Library and the main office and Trailside Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation.
Walking Group
The Lewisboro Land Trust Walking Group was established in October, 2006. Approximately 250 people are on our distribution list, mainly by their own request. A walk is announced weekly on varying days (weather and schedules permitting) and people just show up - no need for RSVP's. One goal of this activity is to help the public become familiar with the 20 preserves and approximately 80 miles of trails in Lewisboro. Our group has become a very successful social activity. Enjoyment of nature and learning from one another about birds and plants have added to the pleasures of these informal walks. If you would like to be notified of our walks, contact Susan Kuper at Susan@SusanKuperRealEstate.com
