Land Preservation 2009

The North Salem Open Land Foundation gave us an easement on its 38-acre Keeler preserve.

Westchester Land Trust helped complete 14 projects in 2009, protecting 424 acres. Here’s a list:
 
LP Partners/Peter Kamenstein, Larry Fink – a 129-acre conservation easement, North Salem.
 
Laurel Ledges/Putnam County Land Trust – a conservation easement protecting a 105-acre preserve in Patterson owned by the Putnam County Land Trust.
 
Antonio Velardo/Town of New Castle – a 47-acre conservation easement with public trails set aside as part of the Brandywyne subdivision.
 
North Salem Open Land Foundation – a conservation easement on the 38-acre Keeler Preserve.
 
Village of Mount Kisco, Town of North Castle – purchase of the 30-acre Byram Lake Preserve, North Castle.
 
The Nature Conservancy/Old Church Lane – a 24-acre conservation easement from The Nature Conservancy on land given to the Conservancy to be sold to raise funds. The easement is across the road from Westchester Land Trust’s Old Church Lane Preserve.
 
Zofnass – a 13-acre donation by the Zofnass Family, to increase the size of Westchester Wilderness Walk.
 
North Salem Open Land Foundation – a conservation easement on 11-acre Graff Preserve.
 
Albright – a nine-acre land donation in Cortlandt, near Blue Mountain Reservation and other preserved lands
 
Alexander and Eliza Bolen – an 8-acre conservation easement, Bedford.
 
Julia and Leonard Edelstein – a 4-acre conservation easement, Pound Ridge.
 
Beaver Dam Sanctuary – transfer of easement on three acres in Bedford.
 
Randall-Darley – a 2-acre conservation easement in New Rochelle.
 
Committee to Save the Bird Homestead, City of Rye, NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation, New York State Assembly, Long Island Sound Stewardship Fund, Westchester County – purchase of the 1-acre Bird Homestead, Rye.
