| Halsey Pond, one of Irvington's beautiful open spaces. |
The distinct beauty of the greater Irvington community is obvious. Our natural landscape and low density level are extremely rare and vulnerable. Preserving the Irvington area's uniqueness requires our commitment to protecting our open space.
Nobody understands the importance of this cause better than the people who live and work here.
The Greater Irvington Land Trust, a chapter of Westchester Land Trust, was created by community members to counter that vulnerability. GILT offers concerned neighbors the ability to make tax-advantaged donations of land or development rights. We also established an adjunct, the Greater Irvington Land Conservancy Foundation, Inc., to attract tax deductible monetary donations from the community which can then be transfered to GILT as needed.
