Merrill Lynch is the lead sponsor of Westchester Land Trust's 2008 Gala
Join us at our annual "In Our Backyard" Gala and Auction, Saturday, June 14, 2008, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary and honor Susan Henry, a 20-year member of Westchester Land Trust's Board of Directors.
Susan - who also serves as chair of our Lewisboro Land Trust chapter and is a Waccabuc resident and land preservationist extraordinaire - will receive our 2008 Preservation ANGEL Award.
The gala will be held at Whelpley Farm in Bedford Hills. The event will feature live and silent auctions, a fantastic dinner featuring local organic food and wine (the wine is from Long Island), and music by The Gerard Carelli Orchestra.
There's still time to reserve a place. To make a secure, online reservation, please click here.
The Preservation ANGEL Award stands for Advocate for Nature, Guardian of Our Environment and Lands. Previous winners were Seema Boesky; Paul Zofnass and other Pound Ridge residents who created the Westchester Wilderness Walk; Sam Pryor; Jim and Twink Wood; Shelby White; and Carol and Frank Nickell and Lisa and Mark Schwartz.
Here's what Susan Henry said about land preservation not long ago:
"The Land Trust has succeeded far beyond what even I, a charter member of the Board of Directors, could have hoped.
"From protecting a handful of acres in the early years, we've now exceeded 5,000 acres and are aiming for 5,000 more over the next five.
"Through it all, we've been true to our mission: To protect land in partnership with private property owners, to help communities create new parks and preserves, and to foster sound land use planning."
